A CAPACITY crowd overflowed into the street when Watchet town crier David Milton launched his first CD with a night of singing and album signing at Watchet’s Pebbles Tavern.

His ‘Songs from the Bellman’ album has already been played on BBC Radio Two and local stations, and David confesses he has been surprised by its success.

“I was singing in Pebbles almost non-stop for about five hours, and the crowd just didn’t want me to stop,” David said. “It was a wonderful night and it’s nice to be appreciated in your home town.”

Accompanied by Graham White and Kevin Bown, David, who has been town crier for five years, sang songs from his album, including folk songs, sea-shanties and some of his own compositions.
