Kite, a new project working for families and young people in West Somerset, was launched at Minehead Eye last week with more than 100 visitors attending.

Families and young people had a chance to take part in activities which included climbing, dj workshops, soft play, graffiti, boxercise, virtual reality and more.

Visitors also had the chance to walk around 15 information stands from providers of support services in West Somerset including Mind, YMCA, the Employment Hub, Village Agents, the PCSOs and West Somerset Food Bank.

Representatives from local schools and councils also attended, as did the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset, Anne Maw.

Kite co-ordinator Maya Clayden described the event, which marked the beginning of a five-year Lottery-funded partnership project between Minehead Eye and Homestart, as ’a fantastic way to start off the project’.
