‘WINGS’ has been chosen as the theme for this year's flower festival in the white landmark parish church in Selworthy which takes place over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The festival will be open from 10 am to 5 pm from the Friday to Bank Holiday Monday, with a ‘Songs of Praise’ service at 4 pm on the Sunday.

There will be live music performances on the other afternoons, and bric-a-brac and refreshments throughout.

The volunteer exhibitors will be flying up the hill to Selworthy in the preceding days to work on the flower displays so visitors will enter the church through the ‘The Wind Beneath My Wings’ surrounding its ancient double doors.

There will be a large variety of flowers, colours, and concepts for visitors to appreciate in the festival arrangements.

Festival organiser Wendy Flint said: “All are welcome. Entry is free with optional donations to help maintain this significant historic building.”

For visitors to the area, the festival will be signposted at the turn to Selworthy on the A39 Minehead to Porlock road.
