SEVERAL members of Exmoor Young Voices (EYV) attended a Royal Garden Party in Buckingham Palace, shortly after the charity received the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS).
Fresh from the Lord Lieutenant of Somerset Mohammed Saddiq officially presenting the KAVS during a ceremony in Dulverton, four of the group travelled to London for the Royal occasion.
They were EYV founder and adviser Leslie Silverlock, chairman Will Lock, co-ordinator Megan Hunt, and trustee and pilot self-builder Josh Smith.
EYV is an organisation of young residents and workers on the moor who tackle issues including housing, digital inclusion, employment, communications, travel, and local wages.

The garden party was hosted by the Prince and Princess of Wales William and Kate, and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh Edward and Sophie, and Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall.
Mr Lock said: “The stars of the show were, of course, the Royal family themselves.
“We lined up to catch a glimpse as they appeared on the terrace, to the tune of the National Anthem.
Everybody was soaking it all in, the elegance, the outfits, the polite conversations.
“It was a real treat.
“The atmosphere was just lovely.
“Everybody was buzzing with excitement but perfectly polite, very British.
“As the party wound down, we lined up once more to watch the Royals make their exit, capturing some great photos, witnessing a heartwarming moment between the Prince, Princess, and a guest, and soaking up the last of the magic.
“From the stunning gardens to the Royal sightings, the music, the food, and the wonderful company, the day was truly unforgettable.
“What a beautiful way to mark receiving the King’s Award and to celebrate all of Exmoor Young Voices’ incredible achievements over the years.”
Before returning to Exmoor the following day, the group paid a visit to the Houses of Parliament.
