EXMOOR publicans have banded together with the launch of a scheme to show troublemakers the door.
Licensees in the Exmoor and Quarme police beat area have set up a Pubwatch scheme in partnership with local officers from the Avon and Somerset force.
The initiative is aimed at helping them tackle any anti-social behaviour or disorder problems.
And anyone convicted of an offence of disorder or violence will face a ban from all pubs in the area, which includes Exford, Simonsbath, Winsford, Withypool, Hawkridge and Brompton Regis.
Daniel Whittaker, licensee of Exford's Crown Hotel, sparked the initial interest in setting up the scheme.
"We rarely experience any problems but it was decided it would be good to have a system in place to deal with any problems that may arise," he said.
Local beat officers PC Alan Edwards and PCSO Jo Dawson were only too happy to help get the initiative off the ground.
PC Edwards said: "Similar schemes have been running for some time in Porlock and Dulverton and have proved very successful in reducing anti-social behaviour and disorder.
"The prospect of facing a ban from all local licensed premises is a great deterrent."
