A WILD-born Exmoor stallion has made the long journey from Porlock Hill to Denmark and a moor-bred gelding has been settled in a new home in Germany.
The stallion, Farleywater Zeus, has joined the semi-feral Exmoor herd on Langeland island in Denmark, and both he and gelding Farleywater Sitka made the journey in luxury vans equipped with ‘traveling stables’.
The Danish Nature Agency was seeking a suitable stallion to run with its Exmoor mares – it was decided that Zeus should be the new sire and he made the journey in LOC Transport’s 3.5 tonne luxury van with his own ‘travelling stable’.
Moor-bred gelding Farleywater Sitka travelled to Germany in the same way, this time with Campbell Equestrian.
Read Zeus and Sitka’s story in this week’s Free Press (January 25).
