A NATIONWIDE farming campaign has visited Exmoor to collect messages to be sent to local MPs.

The ‘Trailer of Truth’ campaign was launched by Farmers to Action with the support of several grassroots farming groups and is designed to give farming communities a voice at a time of deep concern over Government policy.

The trailer is being passed from farm to farm like a baton as it travels across England, Scotland, and Wales carrying banners calling for truth over ‘spin’ and accountability over excuses.

People are invited at each stop to write messages to their MP and post letters in a mobile post box which will be delivered directly to Westminster.

The trailer last week visited Blackmoor Gate Market, on Exmoor, where rural campaigner James Wright said: “Farmers want honesty.

“The ‘Trailer of Truth’ is about giving every farmer and every rural community the chance to have their voice carried right to the doorstep of Government.

“The challenges we face are real, and this campaign makes sure they cannot be ignored.

“It is a reminder that without farmers, there is no food, no rural economy, and no future for the countryside we all value.”

The trailer tour will finish in Liverpool at the Labour Party conference at the end of September.

Mr Wright said: “The trailer will stand as a powerful symbol of farmers’ determination to protect British food, jobs, and rural communities.

“From Cornwall to Cumbria, the trailer is gathering the hopes and frustrations of thousands who believe food security and farming families deserve to be at the heart of national policy.”

Among the stops made by the ‘Trailer of Truth’ was one at television personality Jeremy Clarkson’s Diddly Squat Farm, in Oxfordshire.

Farmers to Action spokesperson Kathleen Renner said: “We have been able to bring a lot of campaigning groups together. There is a real coming together.”
