THE theme for this year’s Exmoor Archaeology Forum on November 14 is ‘Archaeology and Communities’.
Some tickets are still available for the event in Lynton Town Hall from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
The day will focus on the importance of Exmoor’s rich archaeological heritage to local communities.
The line-up of speakers includes Helen Blackman on the Exmoor Society’s archives.
Alistair Galt, known for geophysical work for Channel 4’s Time Team, will be talking about new survey work on the Chapman Barrows.
Speakers will shed light on new research into the landscape around Exmoor’s largest standing stone, and on the buildings of Simonsbath and the lost ‘Picturesque Gardens’ in Ashcombe.
And Henrietta Quinnell will put the new work on Exmoor’s Bronze Age archaeology into its regional context.
Booking is essential. Tickets £10 or, with lunch, £15 and the booking form can be downloaded at www.exmoor-nationalpark. gov.uk/Whats-Special/history. For more information call Carol Carder on 01398 322229.
