EXFORD was buzzing with cars, visitors and locals on Saturday, August 27 when the village held its annual flower and produce show.

The show chairman, Judy Skinner, introduced Baroness Mallalieu, who opened proceedings with a speech to get the afternoon off to a flying start, and later presented cups to the winners.

In the main marquee, attendees were able to view all the produce entries, flower exhibits and the photographic entries as well as a handicraft and children’s section.

Despite the unfavourable weather experienced by the exhibitors this year, all produce and flower exhibits were praised as “remarkably good”.

And in all the other sections, the entries were of an equally high standard.

On the Green, visitors were able to enjoy music from the Tone Valley Jazz Band as well as a barrel organ, while sampling cake and tea from the tea tent.

A wide variety of stalls, which proved popular with everyone, included the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance, ‘guess the logs in the trailer’, splat the rat, crockery smashing and a coconut shy.

There were also book, cake, craft and bric-a-brac stalls plus a tombola and raffle.

The organising committee wishes to thank all those involved who helped make it a very successful day – stallholders, the marquee and furniture providers, tea tent and all the other volunteer helpers.
