WHEN Williton’s first female firefighter Erin Fairhead runs in full fire kit out of the village fire station, the chances are she is not answering an emergency call.
She is planning a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
In heavy fireproof clothing, boots and helmet, 37-year-old Erin is hoping to make history by becoming the first woman firefighter to complete the London Marathon in full kit.
But the main aim of the gruelling run is to raise money for the Fire Fighters Charity.

Best-ever rating for pupil dining experience in Williton St Peter's First School“The work the charity does is so important to serving and retired firefighters that I felt it only right to do this run,” Erin said.
“I hope by doing it in fire kit I will collect a reasonable amount to donate to them.”
Erin successfully ran the London Marathon five years ago, and in preparation for this year’s 26-mile event on April 24, she has stepped up her training to include three major runs a week and the all-important road-work in full firefighting kit.
Erin will also be raising money for the Fire Fighters Charity with a bring-and-buy and cake stall on Saturday (February 13) from 10am to 12pm when the fire station holds a coffee morning for ex-firefighters and their families.
Her fundraising page is www.justgiving.com/erinfairhead for anyone wishing to donate.
