FAMILIES and friends enjoyed mulled wine and hot chocolate as they watched a musical Christmas-themed display by Pony Club members of Crowcombe’s Quantock School of Riding.

A team of young riders aged from nine to 14 had rehearsed for two months to present a programme of equestian skills including show-jumping , dressage, and long-reining.

A highlight of the evening was the appearance of Father Christmas on a grey mare.

“Everyone appreciated the hard work the Pony Club members had put into their performance,” said the school’s head instructor Lea Bouctot.

“Most events we do are competitive but this was a chance for riders and spectators to relax and have a good time.”
