A FOSSIL roadshow which debuted in Watchet last year is to return in August by popular demand.

Ecological and geological consultancy Geckoella Ltd is asking people to ‘dig out your fossil curios from the attic’ and go along to the event, which will be held on Watchet’s East Quay.

Geckoella principle geologist Dr Andy King said: “We are thrilled to invite the public to bring in their mystery geological objects.

“The region has a rich geological history, and we are excited to help people connect with the story of the land beneath their feet.”

The free event, which is taking place on Sunday, August 31, from 11 am until 3 pm, will be an opportunity for people to try to stump the Geckoella experts with their own fossil finds.

A Geckoella spokesperson said: “Fossil lovers, curious kids, and history buffs are in for a treat as the Geckoella Fossil Roadshow sets up its stand, bringing with it a fascinating collection of real fossils, ancient artefacts, and hands-on learning experiences.

“The roadshow offers a rare chance for local residents to get up close and personal with the deep past of our planet, without needing to travel far from home.

“The event will be free to attend and is suitable for all ages.

“Whether you are a seasoned fossil hunter or simply curious about the prehistoric world, the Geckoella team promises a day full of discovery, learning, and fun.”

The spokesperson said visitors to the roadshow can expect:

  • A stunning selection of fossils, including ammonites, corals, and dinosaur-era specimens
  • Hands-on fossil identification where you can bring your own finds
  • Talks and Q&As with expert geologists Dr Andy King and Dr Dave Evans

Car parking is available nearby in Harbour Road and East Quay also has a cafe, galleries, and studios for visitors to explore.
