ART created by pupils of Minehead Middle School (MMS) has gone on show in Watchet’s East Quay in a show titled ‘End of Year’.
Work by children in year five through to year eight is being exhibited alongside artwork by pupils of Danesfield Middle School, Williton, in East Quay’s Studio 10.
Five MMS youngsters accompanied head of art and design and technology Michelle James to curate the students’ artwork for the show.
They were tasked with pulling the exhibition together and working out the best gallery layout for the show.
Artwork featured included year five Picasso and Lowry drawings as well as Mark Hearld-inspired bird sculptures.
Year six featured work from Arushi, while year seven showed ‘Inspired by Nature’ lino prints, paintings, and design and technology vehicles.

Year eight created a pop art piece, while some Automata mechanical toys were also displayed.
Headteacher Laura Mackie said: “It is wonderful to see our students’ artwork in this fantastic location that sits within our community.
“The students have worked hard to develop pieces that formed part of the installation and they are rightly proud of their work.
“We are very fortunate at Minehead Middle School to have an inspirational, supportive, and passionate creative arts team led by Michelle James who has worked with East Quay throughout this year, culminating in this exciting opportunity for our students.
“I am sure that this is one of many collaborations between us and I would like to pass on my thanks to all of those involved.”
The exhibition gave the schoolchildren an opportunity to visit various artists and glimpse their unique styles, mediums, and work, along with being taught different ways to display art.
They were allowed creative freedom to display the art in their own dedicated studio in any way they chose, and later visited a nature-themed interactive exhibit full of plants and wildlife.
