CHILDREN at Exford First School learned about the Three Rs – reducing, reusing and recycling – when they were given two workshops funded by the Somerset Waste Partnership.
The school was visited by the Carymoor Education team which presented the workshops – Wigglebert the Worm and Fantastic Plastic.
The juniors made their own greenhouses by reusing old plastic bottles and the Infants learned about composting and made a flowerpot from newspaper and planted some seeds.
Each pupil went home with a free roll of food waste liners and full of enthusiasm for doing more at home and school to reduce waste.
Head teacher Laura Weaver said: “The children were even inspired to continue this theme during their child-led learning activities and were found making recycling lorries!”
Somerset Waste Partnership has funded 90 visits during 2018, and there are still places left. Further information can be found at www.carymoor.org.uk/trips/schools-against-waste.
