A NEW creative writing initiative at Dulverton Middle School School kicked off with The Inventors’ Fair on the school fields.

In the full-day session provided by Storywalks, the children in years five and six shared iPads that give them a story to follow – with directions.

They were sent across the field to trigger chapters and discover the inventions and inventors hidden there but only revealed once the children were in the correct location.

The entire story was hidden around the school field. To read them, the pupils had to run to reveal the text then share the reading of the story.

Stories to be found ranged from ‘The Toffee Apple Machine’ invention, which made toffee apples from live bugs, to the ‘The Super Splice Device’ which combined a zebra and a daffodil to make a daffodil with striped flutes.
