BUSINESSES and organisations in Dunster are being given a free opportunity at the end of the month to promote themselves to the village as a whole.

Dunster Tithe Barn Community Hall is holding two open afternoons when anybody can go along and tell everybody else about themselves.

Tithe Barn trustee Barbara Bryan said it was part of an ongoing community initiative for the charity and would allow groups and businesses to explain how they each played a part in village life.

Ms Bryan said: “We thought both local village societies and businesses equally are facing challenging times with the current economic situation.

“We are therefore wanting to play our part in supporting each other, at the same time promoting Dunster to a wider community audience.

“Dunster is a beautiful village with a close community spirit.

“There have been a number of varying organisations that have so far signed up to what looks to be a great event, very exciting.”

The event will be held on July 28 and 29 from 2 pm to 4 pm on both days and will also give people an opportunity to view the historic building at the heart of Dunster village.

Running alongside the open afternoons will be Dunster’s annual flower festival, which takes place next door in St George’s Church.

Ms Bryan said: “This is another community event which local residents are busy and involved with.”

Entry for both events is free, with donations accepted.
