EIGHT musical events are lined up for this weekend’s first ever Dunster Festival which opens tomorrow (Friday) and is based at St George’s Church.
Among the highlights are concerts by the world-renowned Sacconi Quartet and The Marian Consort, and an organ recital by 2017 BBC Proms soloist William Whitehead which features two world premieres.
The festival is organised by its founders, professional musicians Rachel Wick and Rory McCleery.
Tomorrow’s opening concert at 7pm is by the Sacconi Quartet – flautist Thomas Hancox, clarinettist Max Welford and Rachel playing harp – and features music by Debussy, Ravel and Brahms.
Rachel and Rory teamed up with Quantock Brewery for a Late Night Session with the Marian Consort, directed by Rory, from 10pm tomorrow night.
Further information is in this week’s Free Press.
