STAFF at a nursery in Dulverton are delighted after it was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted in every area from quality of teaching and learning to children’s personal development and welfare.
The Ofsted inspector found that children at Little Owls Nursery at All Saints CofE School were happy and well behaved, with good self-esteem.
It was also found that staff monitor children’s progress successfully and plan well for their future learning.
The children feel emotionally safe and secure, learn well about diversity and respect and value each other’s differences, while children with special educational needs or disability receive extremely good support.

Delays in constructing Hinkley C nuclear power station highlighted by protestors“The ‘good’ grade is a testament to the hard work put in by all staff to make the nursery best meet the needs of the children and community the nursery serves,” said Carly Hatch, nursery manager and headteacher.
“We are already working towards an outstanding judgement next time.”
The Ofsted inspection report said the nursery could improve further by using mealtimes more effectively to encourage children’s independence and practical skills.
And it felt there could be more support for children, especially those who prefer to learn outdoors, to play imaginatively.
