THE main road from Williton to Taunton will be closed near Sampford Brett for two weeks in March for extensive repairs to be carried out.

The official diversion route will be via Bridgwater, but drivers are expected to find their own shorter routes.

The work is part of a number of major schemes being undertaken by Somerset County Council before the end of the financial year, thanks to a £9.98 million one-off pot of money for road repairs announced by the Department for Transport late last year.

The A358 will be completely closed for drainage improvements and resurfacing from March 18 to 31 at Black Arch - the bridge just outside Williton which takes West Somerset Railway over the A358.
