MAJOR roadworks to prevent flooding at Dragon’s Cross on the A39 at Bilbrook, scheduled to start tomorrow (Monday), have been postponed until after Christmas, a county council spokesman announced this week.

The spokesman added: “The work is complex and the road is a narrow so a temporary road closure is required to keep the workforce and travelling public safe.

“However, there are no obvious alternative routes, particularly for large and heavy vehicles.”

A separate overnight resurfacing scheme on the A39 near Washford Cross will still take place as planned during the week beginning Monday, November 20.

The A39 east of Washford Cross will be closed from 7pm to 7am on November 20/21 with the A39 west of Washford Cross closed from 7pm to 7am on November 22, 23 and 24.
