Dementia volunteer Margaret Tatham, from Watchet, has thanked everyone who supported her charity walk while she was in hotel quarantine in Northern Cyprus last autumn.

Margaret, of Watchet and the Quantocks Dementia Action Alliance, returned home on Monday morning.

She had travelled to Kyrenia with husband Andrew to help their daughter Alice Flamson work by looking after grand-daughters Maisie and Heidi.

Margaret walked more than 84,000 steps over eight days and thanks to a JustGiving page and the support of people back home raised £80 for the Alzheimer’s Society.

She said: “Many thanks to all the people who supported my walk with donations large and small. As well as raising much-needed funds for Alzheimer’s Research it helped me keep healthy and active.”

Margaret is now isolating at home but keeping up her links with the Forget Me Not dementia group by phone and email. Fortnightly Zoom meetings will continue and are open to people without computers or mobile phones – contact Margaret for information about this and any other dementia-related issue.

Margaret added: “The Alzheimer’s Society is still open for all of us – if I don’t know the answer I usually know someone who does.” She can be contacted on 07973 638030 or at [email protected]
