As a mobility scooter user and car driver, I am becoming increasingly alarmed at the dangerous practice of mobility scooters zooming around, with or without trailers, on roads in Minehead and Alcombe.
This could result in a serious accident.
It is illegal to be on the road without registering a scooter or powered wheelchair with the DVLA.
Unregistered drivers who are forced onto the road to avoid tree roots or pavement obstruction must return to the pavement as soon as possible.

Class 3 mobility scooters and powered wheelchairs can be used on the road and have a maximum speed of 8 mph on the road and 4 mph off the road. They must have an efficient braking system, front and rear lights and reflectors, direction indicators able to operate as a hazard warning signal; an audible horn and rear view mirror.
