SIR — I'm sure many of your readers will be pleased to know that last weekend's dance organised by Minehead lifeboat crew raised a very impressive £3,100 for RNLI funds and has got this year's programme of money-raising events off to a terrific start.

We would like to thank everyone who supported the event in any way, whether by attending or by providing raffle prizes.

The evening was a great success despite the weather – which probably made more than a few people reflect on the dedication of a group of people who would have been prepared to put to sea even in those conditions had the call come.

Supporters may like to know the next major fundraiser is a hog roast and jazz night with the Darktown Strutters in the lifeboat house on Bank Holiday Saturday May 24.

Chris Rundle,

RNLI,

Minehead.
