WATCHET travelled to fellow strugglers Lydford and came away with an important four wicket victory leaving them 30 points from a relegation spot.

Batting first Lydford struggled against the accurate bowling of Rawle and Woolgrove, who bowled 15 overs taking 2-32.

After 35 overs Lydford were 100-3 but the game changed dramatically as Lydford's captain Nigel Lee hit 46 runs in only 20 balls. This encouraged the patient Andy Billing to open up and he started to find the boundary only for Rawle to come back on and bowl him.

Lydford's inning's closed on 213-6, a target which appeared difficult for Watchet to achieve.

But when Watchet batted they found the conditions to their liking and in only four overs Perkins and Woodward had put on 35 runs.

When Steve Perkins went for 32 the score had moved on to 119 from 20 overs and then Dave Milton and Clive Strong continued attacking with Strong going on to reach 68.

Both batsmen fell in quick succession but youngsters Ben Saddington and Tony Powis saw them home with 10 overs to spare as Powis capped a good day's work adding an undefeated 13 to his two excellent catches earlier in the day.

Lydford: 213-6 (A Billing 66, N Lee 46, S Barnes 33, S Rawle 3-41, L Woolgrove 2-32).

Watchet: 219-6 (C Strong 68, S Perkins 32, A Woodward 27, D Milton 20, P Trevorrow 3-70).
