SOMERSET's latest brewery - Triscombe-based 6Trees - will unveil its line-up of beers at its official launch next weekend (April 20 to 22).

Owner Mark Venn will showcase the brewery's standard range of beers at the event, which will take place at Crowcombe's Carew Arms.

Some of the power used to produce the real ales comes from a 10kW solar PV array in the park behind the brewery.

The products on offer at the launch will include High Noon, a low gravity beer, Bitter Memories2, a best bitter combining three types of hops with six different malts, Burnished Brass, a golden ale combining five malts and three types of hops, and Jardeeling in which five hop varieties and Abbey malt are mixed to give an India pale ale taste.

6Trees also plans to produce a range of five fruit beers called April Hop, Blimey The Elder, Hopwork Orange, Pear Shaped and Raspberry Bock.

These will not be available at the launch, although the brewery hopes to have some special seasonal bottled beers available.

The arrival of Somerset's 13th independent brewer has been welcomed by Phil Emond, chairman of the Somerset branch of CAMRA - the Campaign for Real Ale.

"We wish Mark and all at 6Trees every success and with their plans for the range of beers and the future we are confident that their being the 13th independent Somerset brewer will not prove a portent for that future," he said.

"Somerset as a whole is very fortunate to have so many excellent breweries and a thriving free trade pub market in which to enjoy their products."
