The court was told he committed a rape and an oral rape. The victim, a 22-year-old local woman, was attacked near the town's Co-op supermarket in the early hours of July 5.
Remanding him in custody for pre-sentence reports, Judge Graham Hume Jones said the offences had been committed against a girl who had been "minding her own business".
He said he had to consider not only the sentences but whether or not Bucatariu came within the category of dangerous offender and posed a substantial risk of harm to members of the public. A psychiatric report may also be necessary.
The court was told he would have to serve his sentence before being deported.
