A HOLIDAY park on the edge of Blue Anchor beach has received a coveted David Bellamy Conservation Award.
The 29-acre Hoburne Blue Anchor holiday and touring park received the bronze award for 2001 following independent assessment by Professor Bellamy and the Conservation Foundation.
The scheme recognises holiday and caravan parks that have made a valuable contribution to the preservation and enhancement of the environment.
Parks have to show that they are making a positive contribution to this by, for example, landscaping, recycling policies, waste management, the cultivation of flora and the creation of habitats designed to encourage a variety of wildlife.
Hoburne deputy chairman Rosie Hoare said: "As park owners, we are very much aware of our special responsibility to protect and enhance the natural environment.
"The bronze award is a great credit to Hoburne Blue Anchor's general manager Ron Parker and his staff."
