SIR — During a chance conversation with strangers, it emerged that they had recently completed a holiday to the Derbyshire Dales, their 25th in as many years.

I countered this by saying that my wife and I have holidayed within the Exmoor National Park unbroken for the past 30 years and are back again this summer.

We especially enjoy the Dulverton and Withypool areas of Exmoor, have regularly seen the famed red deer and Exmoor ponies, and are hoping for good weather this coming July, our next planned visit.
