SIR — It is not too long ago that an extreme climate event in Japan caused tidal surges and flooding which led to the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

We are told that nothing like this could possibly happen here at the Hinkley Point nuclear plant which is completely safe.

In view of the fact that extreme climate events are becoming more frequent, and they are unpredictable, and they are already affecting the UK – how can this claim possibly be credible?
