St Petrock’s Church, Timberscombe, is calling on its supporters to nominate it to win another £1,000 festive financial boost as part of Ecclesiastical Insurance’s annual 12 Days of Giving Christmas campaign.

Now into its fifth year, the campaign sees the specialist insurer giving 120 different charities an early Christmas gift of a £1,000 donation, with ten winners announced each weekday from December 6 to 21.

Last year, St Petrock’s Church was one of the 120 winning charities to receive £1,000 and this year St Petrock’s is asking even more of its supporters to vote for the charity again.

For long periods in 2020 the church was closed and the usual village fundraising activities were not able to take place with the impact of coronavirus meaning our social community events could not happen. Having the good fortune to win £1000 from this easy-to-enter competition organised by Ecclesiastical Insurance meant a great deal to enable the PCC to help pay the day to day bills and complete a community project to install an accessible toilet and a servery in the church which is now in regular use.

The PCC is encouraging everyone to use their social media channels to ask people to vote for them to give our charity the best possible chance of winning.

Churchwarden John Gratton said: “Without the support of our wonderful villagers and friends who all can see the community work that we strive to achieve, our voluntary work would be made much more difficult.

“We urge everyone to make a simple online vote for us and help us continue to provide a warm, accessible and welcoming ancient building to serve the needs of our village.”

Nominations are open until December 20. Visit https://www.movementforgood.com/12days/ and click ‘Nominate a charity now’ , then tick the registration exempt box and enter the charity name and type.

Winners will be drawn at random and the more times a p[articular charity is nominated the more chance it has of being selected.
