CONTACT the Elderly held a Christmas tea party last Thursday at the Tithe Barn in Dunster.

Five of the charity’s local tea party groups came together, along with a number of other elderly guests, all of whom live alone with little contact with family and friends and are unable to get out and about on their own.

For many this was their only Christmas celebration and, for some, the first time they had been taken out for some considerable time.

“It was a wonderful opportunity to have a change of scenery and to meet with others of a similar age group and to share a delicious afternoon tea with a wonderful vintage theme,” said Christine Payne, Contact the Elderly’s area co-ordinator.

The Tithe Barn was decorated with fairy lights and a Christmas tree, and the tables were adorned with exquisite festive floral decorations and entertainment before the tea was provided by Year Two children from Dunster First School.

Contact the Elderly holds regular monthly tea parties and always welcomes additional hosts and drivers for local tea parties.
