MINEHEAD Male Voice Choir has given the proceeds from its Christmas concert to the Hope for Tomorrow charity’s Bumble Bus.
The donation of £180 includes contributions from each of the choir members.
Kelly Caple, Hope for Tomorrow regional fundraising officer, said: “We are very grateful for the Male Voice Choir’s support – this helps us to spread the word about Hope for Tomorrow, which in turn helps keep Bumble and a fleet of other cancer care units running across the UK.”
Minehead Male Voice Choir celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and its concerts have raised many thousands of pounds for local and national charities since it was formed.
Following the festive break, the choir is hard at work learning brand new material and numbers which have been out of the repertoire for a few years.
Concert dates for 2020 are still being planned while travel plans could include another trip to Wales and possibly northern England.
Next year, the choir will join the Cornwall International Festival for Male Voices, an event they first experienced in 2019.
With a repertoire of titles in excess of 100, the choir’s ability to offer varied and interesting programmes continues to grow.
In 2019, four new members joined, but more are always welcome at the regular Monday evening rehearsals at Alcombe Methodist Church, starting at 7.30pm. No auditions are necessary.
