Choir makes its BBC debut!

MINEHEAD Male Voice Choir provided a local platform for the BBC’s nationwide Music Day last week – when it sang at the railway station.

The national day-long celebration of music brought famous musicians, community groups and local choirs together.

MMVC musical director Jackie Butterworth put together a small programme of songs including Every Time I Hear The Spirit, and My Heart Will Go On.

And one of the numbers, Love Is All Around, was aired by BBC Somerset – MMVC’s first BBC broadcast!

Both the choir and accompanist Monika Balogh attracted a small but appreciative audience as they performed – in the cold – over the sounds of the wind and the steaming trains.
