A SERIES of charity cheque presentations has been made by the West Somerset Morris, who raised money from dance outs in 2022.
A £350 award was made to the Porlock’s Spire Project, which aims to renew the oak shingle cladding on the spire of St Dubricius’s Parish Church.
St Dubricius has one of only two truncated spires in the Westcountry and it was last renewed in 1933.
A similar cheque went to Paul and Donna Stevens, who run Watchet-based charity Elliot’s Touch.
The couple said: “This donation will help us in our quest to fund more research into mitochondrial disease and genetic heart defects.
“We are a small charity with a big heart and for each and every donation we receive we are truly grateful.”
St Margaret’s Hospice Care received £160 which was raised at Dunster by Candlelight and which will allow the charity to provide essential clinical care and emotional support to patients, their families, and their carers.
And another £350 was presented to Somerset Community Foundation’s surviving winter appeal to support local vulnerable older people who are experiencing fuel poverty.
