THREE dedicated British Red Cross volunteers were honoured at the charity's Minehead shop for their commitment and dedication to the charity.

Ruby Hayes and Steven Taylor were each presented with badges of honour and certificates for helping the disadvantaged and vulnerable through their support of the charity.

There was also a bouquet for fellow volunteer Patricia Harris who was thanked for her "tremendous work" in maintaining the charity's book department for 23 years.

Ruby has served as a volunteer for 55 years, while Steven has chalked up 15 years.

The pair were awarded their badges of honour by Phillip Rowe, the Somerset president of the British Red Cross.

Paul Yates, community manager for Minehead's Tesco, was also on hand to help the celebrations, presenting the pair with commemorative certificates and delivering a special cake and cupcakes to mark the occasion.

Tesco has supported British Red Cross emergency teams both nationally and internationally, for over 13 years.
