CASH machine users in West Somerset are warned to be on their guard after suspicions that a man spotted at a Minehead supermarket was an identity thief. The man, aged about 40, was seen to place a fake card reader on the cash dispensing machine at Tesco at 11am on Saturday. Such equipment can be used to read card details to 'break in' to a person's bank account - and clean it out. People using cash machines are advised to look out for any sign that it has been tampered with before inserting their card, and to inform the police and the bank. The man seen in Minehead on Saturday was with two other men in a green Vauxhall Vectra. He was white, 5ft 10ins tall, of medium to stocky build and wearing casual clothing. Police are appealing that anyone who may have seen this man - or anyone acting suspiciously near a cash machine - should contact PC Andy Crees at Minehead police station on 0845 4567000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
