A DISCUSSION on home energy and how to make them warmer and cheaper to heat is being held on Saturday (September 23) by Carhampton Climate Group.

The meeting will be in the village hall from 10 am to 12 noon and will provider an opportunity to meet experts, ask questions, and share experiences of making homes more energy efficient.

The Centre for Sustainable Energy’s Atha Murphy will talk about schemes offering free insulation, heating improvements, and renewable energy.

Retrofit co-ordinator Chris Gaskell will describe services to help people decide on the best measures for a property and to find reliable installers.

There will be a discussion about problems people faced and possible solutions, with a break for refreshments half-way through.

Climate Group spokeswoman Hester Watson said: “Many of our homes are inefficient and people are finding it hard to remedy this, despite the Government initiatives and council strategies.

“Cold callers bombard us with offers which may not achieve anything.

“We really need impartial advice based on a proper assessment of the property.

“Free help may be denied because of financial limits or the type of property we live in.

“However, advice is available, whatever one’s budget, and the Carhampton Climate Group wants to make sure people know where to find it.”

Ms Watson said everybody was welcome to attend the event, which was free to join and booking was not necessary.
