SIR — As a periodic visitor to the area, I wrote to you in August about the missing metal caps on Marsh Bridge over the Barle just above Dulverton.
I had reported to Somerset County Council on June 2 2005 that one of the four caps had been detached and was lying on the river bed just below the bridge but nothing was done about it.
I wrote again to the county council on May 31 2007 following another visit, to report that a second cap was missing but still nothing was done.
On July 28, I called on the offices of Dulverton Town Council and discovered that both caps had been found and were held by them in storage pending action by the county council.
I was at Dulverton over Christmas and am delighted to report that the missing caps have been replaced - that's over four years since I first reported that a cap had been displaced!
