Our charity Somerset Sight has a befriending service for people with sight loss which has been established since 1997, providing local volunteers to share some time once a fortnight with a visually impaired person for company and help with reading and correspondence.
We are currently looking for volunteers to visit lovely ladies in the areas of Porlock and Wheddon Cross who have sight loss.
Both ladies are very independent but would love to have a regular visit from a local volunteer and perhaps the opportunity to go out with them.
We also need volunteers in Minehead.

The risk of these is greatly increased by the onset of sight loss as it restricts life so very much - even going for a short walk or making a cup of tea can become very difficult.
Somerset Sight is a registered charity which celebrates its centenary year in 2019. Volunteers are all given relevant training, ongoing support and are reimbursed all reasonable expenses.
Many of our 200 volunteers love their visiting and the people they visit really look forward to their company.
If you could spare a couple of hours a fortnight please contact me on 01643 842972 or email [email protected] for an informal discussion about what this involves.
To volunteer in other ways or to find out more about our charity’s work, please contact our main office in Taunton on 01823 333818
