SIR – The Poppy Appeal season is upon us once again and it is time for us to turn our thoughts toward those men and women who have served, or are serving, in our armed forces.
This year is particularly important to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal as the Poppy Appeal is 90 years old on 11.11.11.
Nationally, we have set a target of raising £40 million which will ensure those who need support receive it now and in the future.
We are always grateful for any donations we receive in our collection, especially when times are difficult for us all.

Good news as food hygiene ratings handed to 27 Somerset establishmentsWe have tried our utmost, together with the kind assistance of shops, businesses and stores, to make it possible for everyone to locate a poppy.
However, if anyone wants to have a collection point on their site, or wants to help us with our collections, we would like to hear from you.
Last year Minehead and our surrounding villages raised a fantastic £15,200.55 - is it possible we can beat this total again this year?
If you would like to help, please contact either myself on 01984 633703 or our branch chairman Roy Malin on 01643 708114.
