OVER 16 years have passed since the class of 1986 heard the final school bell ring at Buckler's Mead Comprehensive School in Yeovil.
Mrs Thatcher was still very much in power, pickets were clashing with the police at Wapping, the Westland affair was in full swing. Maradona's Hand of God helped Argentina win the World Cup, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson were married, and Mike Tyson became the world's youngest ever heavyweight Boxing Champion.
Despite all of this, over 200 wide eyed 16 year-olds spilled out into the world to begin adult life, not knowing where this might lead them... and it seems to have led them all over the place.
Now all aged 32 and 33 a massive reunion is planned for Saturday, January 25th 2003 at the Quicksilver Mail, Hendford Hill, Yeovil and all pupils who left Buckler's Mead School in the summer of 1986 are welcome (and urged) to attend.
The organiser of this event is the well-known and popular Pete Parker who really is hoping that this will be a reunion to remember. He hopes that just about everyone will be able to attend to make it a really special event.
The evening will cost £5 per head and will include a disco (80s of course) and lots of reminiscing about the past.
Pete also plans to embarrass as many people as possible, so if you have old photos from those school days please contact him as soon as you can. You may even get the chance to buy your old teacher a pint!
So if you left the school in that year, you really are welcome to attend but Pete needs to hear from you by the end of November.
You can e-mail him at [email protected]">[email protected] or phone him on 07770 833 520.
