DORSET and Somerset Air Ambulance is encouraging supporters to sign up early for its next Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge from Watchet to West Bay in Dorset.
The event, which involves cycling through some of Dorset and Somerset’s most beautiful countryside , takes place on Sunday May 12 at 11am.
Last year’s event raised more than £62,000 and sold out within a few days of online registration being open.
This year, the charity is hoping to raise even more and is encouraging those fortunate to gain a place to raise additional funds by setting up a Coast to Coast Fundraising Page via the charity’s website or by completing a sponsorship form.
With only 600 places available, those wanting to take part need - they can enter as an individual or a team by visiting: www.dsairambulance.org.uk at 10am on Tuesday December 4.
Bill Sivewright, Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance chief executive, said: “This will be our ninth year in the saddle and once again we are restricting our numbers to 600 cyclists.
“With such a demand, there will undoubtedly be those who are disappointed not to gain a place which is why I cannot stress enough, how important it is to register early
“It’s the only fundraising event that we organise ourselves. The fact that all cyclists, no matter their age or ability, take part makes our challenge ever more popular and the atmosphere at the start, en-route and at the finish line is immense.
“This year we will be focussing on the difference that those who are fortunate enough to gain a place can make by raising additional funds through sponsorship.
“In a bid to raise as much as possible this year we have increased our entry fee for adults to £30. Our child entry price remains the same at £10.”
