WIVELISCOMBE’S community swimming pool will open early this year for a spring season – and there is a call for volunteers to help get everything ready.

The early opening season will run from April 13 to May 3, but in the meantime the pool will be emptied of water so that essential maintenance can be carried out.

“There is a lot of work to be done, so we want volunteers to help get it ready, we can’t do it without them,” a Wivey Pool spokesman said.

The pool committee is also looking for specialist volunteers in the form of a builder or someone who can point coping stones, an electrician, a person to put in telephone cable, a painter and carpenter.

There will be working party this weekend and next (March 23-24 and 30-31)between 9am and 3pm.
