SOME £1,204 has been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support by two cake sales at Blackmoor Gate and Cutcombe livestock markets by the Exmoor Women in Farming Group.
Part of the Exmoor Hill Farming Network, the group tackles rural isolation and mental health, and has continued to meet fortnightly via Zoom video conferencing technology since April. It was agreed to hold the cake sales for the cancer charity at the markets, observing Covid-19 precautions.
Overseen by EHFN network officer Katherine Williams and members of the Women in Farming Group, the cake sales were accompanied by two prize draw meat hampers.
Katherine said: “We wanted to show our support in these unusual circumstances as this charity is close to many of our hearts.
“Everyone was very generous with their donations and we are exceedingly thankful for the support the farming community gave to this worthy cause’’.
