THINGS are happening down on West Somerset College’s farm – apart from lambs, piglets and calves arriving.
All sorts of special events and talks as well as summer courses are being planned.
The farm, whose future looked uncertain last year until it received a funding boost which will see it through at least to the end of August, has organised a series of fundraising events as well as summer courses.
In the meantime the spring and summer fundraising events and courses have been planned, and the farm is busy with visits from schools to see the pigs, sheep and lambs, cows and calf, chickens and ducks, as well as horticulture activities, and the Exmoor bees that are moving on site.
“The Lambing Day from 10am to 3pm is our first event and everyone is welcome to come and see and feed the lambs, and there will be stalls, tea and cakes,” said Alyson Claydon-Mills.
The talks, titled An Evening With, will be held at the farm on April 27, May 25, June 29 and July 21, and will be on Exmoor Bees, Race Horses at Hobbs Farm, Products of the Hive, and David Kennard from Broughton Farm. They start at 7pm for cake and refreshments, with the talks at 7.30pm.
