EXMOOR Farmers report a busy day and high attendance at the annual Christmas Show at Cutcombe Market, with 100 show lambs, 50 show ewes, 70 lamb carcasses, poultry and provender in addition to 900 commercial sheep.
The champion lambs came from Mr G G Gribble of Lydeard St Lawrence, selling at £130 to Stillmans Butchers of Taunton, with the reserve champion from Chris Govier selling at £100, also to Stillmans.
Following a brisk and lively sale for the show lambs with eight buyers in the ring, the trade continued at a good level for the commercial lambs with some good quality on offer, all weights required but in particular well-fleshed heavy lambs in demand.
