WEST Somerset tourism businesses notched up 15 awards ranging from gold to highly commended at a ceremony last week for the best tourism businesses in Bristol, Bath and Somerset.

Seventy trophies were presented to winners at the Tourism Awards ceremony held at Somerset County Cricket Club, following six months of assessing evidence and judging by a panel of experts.

The awards showcase the best that Somerset, Bristol and Bath have to offer visitors, from food and drink to attractions, experiences and accommodation.

Award winners will now be fast-racked into the South West Tourism Excellence Awards in February 2018 and then possibly on to the National Visit England later in the year.

Several West Somerset businesses won awards in more than one category, including

Gold award winners: Luttrell Arms Hotel in Dunster, small / boutique hotel of the year and tourism pub of the year.Lavender Hill Holidays, which has properties near Bicknoller and also in Halse, self-catering business of the year. Salad Days of Dunster, dog friendly business of the year. The Beach Hotel (YMCA Somerset Coast), Minehead, Winner of Winners Award for inspiration in tourism.
