SIXTY-THREE former employees at Wansbrough Paper Mill in Watchet attended a special recruitment event at the site last week, and a number will be having further interviews early in February with growing Somerset bus company Crosville Motor Services.

The employees were among 135 people made redundant when the mill closed at the end of December, and 31 people are still involved in a clean-up operation at the site as part of a phased redundancy.

The recruitment event hosted by D S Smith, the company which owns the former mill, saw the head of training and recruitment at Crosville tell former employees there about the rapidly expanding business and its crucial need for drivers and six administration/managerial positions.

Around 20 former mill employees will now go forward for interview in early February.
