VETERANS and civic dignitaries gathered in Minehead's Blenheim Gardens for the annual Burma Star remembrance service last Friday. The commemoration, attended by both the town's mayor Cllr Les Smith and West Somerset Council chairman Cllr Stuart Dowding, was a tribute to those who fought in Burma in World War Two. The campaign gave rise to the renowned Kohima epitaph - 'When you go home, tell them of us and say for your tomorrow, we gave our today'. Among those at the service were Burma Star veteran Rob Johnson, 90, and his wife Joyce, 92, who celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary earlier this month. Photos: Paul Scullion
