OVER 225 people of all ages enjoyed a bumper Danesfield Fun Run on Sunday as the annual event clocked up its 16th year.

From children at first school to people well into their 70s, they raised hundreds of pounds for their chosen charities or just ran for fun as they covered the two and a half-mile route.

A number of fancy dress entrants added extra fun to the run, which went from Danesfield School in Williton via Doniford, in and around Watchet, then back over Watchet hill to the school.

“It was another bumper year, a superb community event,” said organiser Nigel Ridler, site manager at Danesfield School, who started the run originally.

Entry figures were swelled by 72 members from the Watchet Girl Guiding group, who ran in memory of guides Jenny Sully and Emma Harris.

The group raised over £1,000 in sponsorship for the charity Hope for Tomorrow’s chemotherapy bus.
